myDerm is your personalized division of derm.md. While derm.md offers
products and services that will enhance your practice, myDerm goes
even further to give students, residents, practitioners and researchers
access to educational and technological tools.
Education
In the Education section, you have a reference library, peer study
group, and a gallery of dermatological anatomy all packed into one
site. Use the search engine to explore 27 journals encompassing Clinical
Dermatology, Dermatological Surgery, Dermatopathology, and Dermatology
Basic Science. Take advantage of Body Maps, a reference source designed
to help you find cutaneous landmarks quickly, without having to flip
through pages of anatomy textbooks. Because sometimes the best way
to learn an aspect of dermatology is to hear it explained by a fellow
student or colleague, MyDerm.Md has compiled high-yield study notes
for the following areas: Basic Science, Pediatric Dermatology, Genodermatoses,
Infectious Disease, Bites/Envenomations, Hair, Nails, Dermatopathology,
and Dermatological Surgery. (You have the opportunity to submit your
own notes as well.)
A Learning Center puts a special focus on two areas of dermatology
that are currently receiving a great deal of attention: Evidence-
Based Medicine and Skin Oncology. Familiarity with the standards of
Evidence-Based Medicine is critical for all areas of dermatology,
from research methods to differential diagnosis. A step-by-step guide
for learning the essence of this practice is provided. The other focus
of the Learning Center, the Skin Oncology Teaching Center, will take
you to a very comprehensive site that covers all areas of skin oncology
management, from images and instruments to statistics and information
for the general public.
Software systems are also offered in the Educational Section. Save
time and prevent errors by utilizing eMeeting Manager, an online and
held-held scheduling service, and OPIS, a PalmOS based procedure-logging
program for residents. (This program uses the current format required
by the American Board of Dermatology.) Other available programs include
Virtual Dermpath, a virtual microscope application, Dermsurgeryland,
a quick and concise reference of surgical procedures, and Dermland,
an information sharing network for residents.
Technology
The practice of Dermatology adapts very well to technology and has
been greatly enhanced by the recent advances. However, the amount
of information and products on the market can be overwhelming. The
Technology Section contains the Knowledge Bank, an extremely comprehensive
technology tutorial, and product reviews by other derm.md users. The
Knowledge Bank covers every conceivable topic of computer technology
for dermatologists, from devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, desktop
computers, to the accessories, wires, and programs that you can use
to customize your set-up. Product reviews on cameras, books, PDAs
and software cuts through the advertising and gives you the real deal
on what you’re looking for.
Stay current with Upcoming Events in Dermatology. Meetings are listed
for both U.S. societies and locations as well as international conferences.
Customize your preferences. Choose to add or delete features (such
as a news section.) You can also format the amount of web page space
you want to devote to various sections of your page. You can make
changes to the features and layout of your page at any time. Click
